2017 Estate Pinot Noir: The 2017 edition of our Estate Pinot Noir packs a full range of red and darker berry flavors. Beginning with the nose one encounters bright pomegranate and poached cherry notes along with hints of sassafras and freshly turned earth. Ten months of barrel age lends a sweetness that balances the supple tannin from this exceptional vintage producing an intense full bodied Pinot Noir. Of particular note in this edition is the juicy and sweet fruited entry upon the palate, backed up by delicate spice notes that lead to a lengthy, warming finish. The hallmark of Domaine Carneros Pinot Noir is the texture, and this wine delivers with a supple and silky mouth-feel.
2017 Hyde Vineyard Merlot: Carneros is a special, if not magical, place for Merlot. A place where the grapes can hang deep into October, developing additional layers of ripeness without losing the freshness or acidity. Taste a bit of Carneros history from this duly famous vineyard. Exotic dark fruits predominate on the nose with blackberry pie, black pepper, and cigar box. The hits keep on coming with the palate delivering a burst of sweet boysenberry followed by notes of saddle leather, and baked plum clafouti. The finish is long, rich, and silky.
2018 Tula Vista Chardonnay: In the glass this single vineyard Chardonnay shows a pale straw color tinged with an emerald rim. The exotic nose features lemongrass, wet stone, butterscotch, and pine needle. The palate offers unexpected richness, and viscosity with beautiful pit fruit, baked pear, and notes of honey. The finish is long and layered with a balanced tension in harmony with the mouth- watering acidity. Proper cellar aging, if you can resist opening, will be rewarded in 2-3 years.
