In Champagne, before a méthode traditionnelle sparkling wine earns the right to feature its vintage on the label, it must be aged in the bottle for a minimum of three years. Our Late Disgorged Brut goes well beyond that strict requirement with a total of six years aging sur lie en bouteille - on the lees, in the bottle. The result is an especially rich, plushy textured expression of our acclaimed Domaine Carneros Estate Brut Cuvée. We love this wine now, but know it has exceptional aging potential for years to come.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
A select blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, this wine displays all the intricacy and harmony of our Carneros estate fruit. Intense aromatics of lemon zest, pie crust, and yellow nectarine interlay with D'Anjou pear, almond skin, and orange blossom. The palate is bright and textured with citrus, stone fruit, and spice, lifted through the vibrant mid-palate and carrying through a rich, supple finish. Extended aging prior to disgorgement rewards us with remarkable power and depth.
Vineyard Notes
The 2020 vintage is defined by low yields and concentrated, complex fruit. Early spring frosts and rain during May fruit set limited the number of berries per cluster, which allowed the vine to concentrate more of its resources towards each berry during development. Limited winter rainfall kept berries small while optimal temperatures throughout July and August ripened them beautifully. Harvest commenced on August 3rd and was one of the fastest in recent memory. All grapes destined for our sparkling wine were picked within 3 weeks.
Production Notes
57% Estate Grown Pinot Noir, 43% Estate Grown Chardonnay
Food Pairing Notes
Savor this Late Disgorged Brut with king crab, clam linguine, or fish tacos. Our sparkling winemaker Zak suggests trying this wine with a brunch dish such as salmon eggs Benedict with lemon hollandaise sauce - the bright citrus complementing the toasty brioche notes in this vintage.
