2018 Single Vineyard Brut "Tula Vista Vineyard"

We are thrilled to showcase our Tula Vista vineyard for our fifth Single Vineyard sparkling release. Starting with the 2014 vintage, we have selected fruit from a single vineyard each year that truly exemplifies its site, wholly, and vividly.
Our Tula Vista vineyard is located just west of the Donum Estate on Ramal Road, a few short miles from the Château. We purchased this 70 acre site in 2012. In early 2014 we finished re-establishing the vineyard by planting 29 acres of Chardonnay and 22 acres of Pinot Noir. This site of rolling hills and clay loam soil perched right on the edge of the San Pablo Bay is exposed to tremendous wind and fog, and is guaranteed to offer us an exciting new element of Carneros terroir.

Tasting Notes
This wine opens with lime zest, green apple, wet stone, and a touch of soft floral notes. The palate continues with enchanting flavors of golden apple, white cherry, tangerine, lychee, kiwi, and shortbread. Even in its youth, our 2018 Single Vineyard Brut shows beautiful complexity and integration with soft delicate bubbles that lead to a pleasant finish. It will age gracefully if you have the patience to wait.
Vineyard Notes
2018 had the coolest temperatures we had seen since 2011, allowing an extended hang time for the fruit and longer flavor development. Additionally, replenished reservoirs and healthy vineyards from the abundant rains of the previous vintage allowed for a larger than normal crop. These elements translate to the perfect combination of a high-yield and high-quality vintage that winemakers dream about.

Food Pairing Notes
This 2018 vintage pairs nicely with oysters, Dungeness crab, macadamia crusted halibut, and our winemaker suggests a pasta with alfredo sauce.
