2014 The Famous Gate Pinot Noir
Four clonal selections: Swan (65%), Dijon 115 (13%), Hanzell (12%), and Dijon 777 (10%) were gently destemmed and cold soaked for five days to extract color and aromatics. Fermentation took place in in small open vats, and the caps punched down three times daily. An exhaustive barrel stave selection and aging program tailored to our winery by fine Burgundy coopers including Rousseau, Francois-Frères, and Remond lend supple tannins and warm spice to the wine. The wine was aged in barrel for 15 months, and the final blend was racked once before bottling without fining or filtration.
